Simultaneous information and energy transfer (SIET) is attracting much attention as an effective method to provide green energy supply for mobiles. However, low power level of harvested energy from RF spectrum limits application of this technique. Thanks to improvement of sensitivity and efficiency of RF energy harvesting circuit as well as dense deployment of small cell base stations, SIET becomes more practical. In this paper, we propose a unified receiver model for SIET in LTE-A small cell base station networks, formulate a feasibility problem with Poisson point process model and analyze the feasibility for a special and practical scenario. The results show that it is feasible for mobiles to charge the secondary battery with harvested energy from BSs, but it is still impractical to directly charge the primary battery or operate without any battery at all.
The purpose of this report is to explain how – by leveraging on the capabilities of the amazon web services – it is possible to manage and process a set of data that is too large and complex for traditional data processing techniques and technologies.
The report discusses the implementation of a set of services – from the retrieval of external data to its transformation, through the storage on non relational databases and finally the parallel computation on an external cluster – meant for the management of discographic information in order to easily join different data in an agile manner and subsequently perform additional processing based on the joined output.
Inconel 718 is the most employed superalloy in the industry and it is often found in aerospace engines and power generation turbines. Superalloys are known as one of the most difficult group of materials to machine and therefore, tool material, tool geometry and cutting parameters should be carefully selected. Numerous researches have proven the enhanced productivity in turning of ceramic tools compared to carbide ones, while considerably less information is with regard to milling. Moreover, no knowledge has been developed about machining holes with this type of tools. More research on different machining techniques like circular ramping is critical to expand the productivity improvements that ceramics offer. This paper initially reviews prior work about ceramic tools. Then, a 3D simulation and a number of experiments with SiAlON round inserts have been carried out to evaluate the effect of the cutting speed and pitch on the tool wear and chip generation. The results show that three different types of chips are generated as well as that there are three potential wear zones. Top slice wear was identified as the most critic wear type followed by the notch wear. Flank wear and adhesion were also found in most of the tests. To conclude with, a 6.6 times more productive process than with carbide tools was achieved. Le Covering Tour Problem se focalise sur l'équité de distribution des vivres, alors que le Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem se concentre sur l'urgence de la distribution. Nous proposons une nouvelle approche mélangeant ces deux approches pour former une solution à la fois équitable et rapide. Ce article a été rédigé dans le cadre du TER 2014-2015.
This paper describes the creation of the tool to approach to models of dispersion of pollutants, framed under a methodology of software development, which identified the sequence to follow in the life cycle extension development, through an incremental model in which the stages of the project were identified. At each stage a series of activities that helped define inputs and outputs in each was made. According the above in the first stage the functional requirements defined and nonfunctional, then in stage two architecture and graphical interface, followed by the coding stage extension and finally the stage of performance testing and user, in order to improve or correct the functionality of the extension.
In this paper, we evaluate a baseline word embedding model for a set of clinical notes derived from patient records. For our baseline, we extract features for this embedding using the Word2Vec module from the gensim package. We also build two models, a word2vec skipgram model with negative sampling and a positive point-wise mutual information (PPMI) model by training on the processed clinical notes. Our evaluation shows that both the PPMI and the skipgram models show improved results for medically-related terms when compared with the baseline model. PPMI shows the best result out of all three models.

This paper targets the task with discrete and periodic
class labels (e.g., pose/orientation estimation) in the context of deep learning. The commonly used cross-entropy or
regression loss is not well matched to this problem as they
ignore the periodic nature of the labels and the class similarity, or assume labels are continuous value. We propose to
incorporate inter-class correlations in a Wasserstein training framework by pre-defining (i.e., using arc length of a
circle) or adaptively learning the ground metric. We extend
the ground metric as a linear, convex or concave increasing
function w.r.t. arc length from an optimization perspective.
We also propose to construct the conservative target labels
which model the inlier and outlier noises using a wrapped
unimodal-uniform mixture distribution. Unlike the one-hot
setting, the conservative label makes the computation of
Wasserstein distance more challenging. We systematically
conclude the practical closed-form solution of Wasserstein
distance for pose data with either one-hot or conservative
target label. We evaluate our method on head, body, vehicle and 3D object pose benchmarks with exhaustive ablation studies. The Wasserstein loss obtaining superior performance over the current methods, especially using convex mapping function for ground metric, conservative label,
and closed-form solution.
